Primary School Religious Education
Religious Education in the Primary school is driven by the Maronite ethos. Our programs incorporate the best from Faith of the Mountain, To Know Worship and Love and the online website called Understanding Faith. Observance of the Maronite Church’s Sanctoral and Temporal Cycles are imbued in the many Liturgies throughout the year. Masses are celebrated weekly and the students take part in special Liturgies involving role plays and Gospel readings for the seasons of Easter and Christmas.
Particular devotions and celebratory activities are held for St Joseph, St Maroun, St Charbel and Our Lady. Rosary Teams are formed from the classes during October for the month of the rosary. This year we are observing the Centennial of the apparitions of Fatima with a special Rosary effort on, or near the 13th day of each month from May until October.
Our Sacramental program for First reconciliation is run in Grade Two and First Holy Communion takes place in Grade Three.
Prayer forms an integral part of our daily cycle both as a whole College group each morning and the prayers said throughout the day in each class. In May this includes the Angelus said at noon by the whole school.
